Service Cost Breakdown
Cost of Materials
This cost covers the purchasing, maintaining, and replacing of camera gear, editing gear, and other photography items. If you are curious about any of my gear, feel free to contact me!
My gear includes my Canon EOS Rebel T6 Digital SLR Camera, Adobe Lightroom & Photoshop, my Wix website and portrait gallery, my external hard-drive, and a JOBY® Gorilla Pod, among other items.
Cost of Labor
As an avid photographer, it is easy to unintentionally undervalue the cost of my labor. The time and labor that I put into your session need to be reflected in my total cost. Don't worry, I factor in only the time that I actively work on your photos. This includes pre-production and post-production work, such as setting up equipment, planning the photoshoot, editing photos, and uploading photos to your personalized photo gallery.
Overhead Cost
Maintaining software, post-production equipment, lighting, backdrops, and buying cameras is all part of the overhead cost, plus the wear and tear. I pay photographer insurance to cover damage to equipment and business liability, so the insurance fees are also included here. Advertising is important as well to let others know about my services. To calculate my overhead costs, I add up my expenses for the year. I take that total number and divide it by the projected amount of jobs that I'll work in a year. I then take that percentage of the total cost to a photography job to start covering my total overhead, bit by bit.

Hourly & Flat Rates
Charging an hourly rate is a standard for types of event photography such as weddings and events. The final charge includes the time spent before and after the event, such as for travel, client meetings, preparation, and post-production.
Charging a flat fee is a standard for a portrait session. I sell sessions as packages based on the number of images. The final charge includes the time spent before and after the event, such as for travel, client meetings, preparation, and post-production.

FAQ
Where are you based and do you travel?
I'm based in Clyde, NC, which is a small town right outside of Asheville during the summers and late winters. During the school year, I live in Chapel Hill, NC. I'm willing to travel within North Carolina and the surrounding areas.
How should I plan for my session?
Don't worry, I've got you covered. I researched many diverse websites to pull together a document that can help you along the way with all you need in order to have a successful photoshoot. I'll send you a PDF along with your session.
When will I get my photos?
You will receive your selected photos before 48 hours after the night of your session. The more photos you order, the closer to the end of that time period you will receive them.
How much do you edit the photos?
I would consider myself somewhat of a "conservative" photographer in that I do not like to edit drastically. However, I do work with exposure as well as small blemishes. As I continue in photography, I aim to learn more complex techniques in Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom.
